Texas Wesleyan Reduces Use on Texas Electric Grid
Texas Wesleyan University is announcing it is utilizing Vedero Software to automatically reduce energy usage during emergency events on the Texas electric grid. Beyond economic benefits to the university, this program improves reliability of the Texas electric grid during power shortages, and defers or avoids the costly build out of additional electrical capacity needed to deal with peak periods.
Texas Wesleyan University, ranked in the #1 Tier of Regional Universities for 2011 by U.S. News & World Report, will participate in demand response programs such as ERCOT Emergency Interruptible Load Service (EILS) at the institution’s Fort Worth, Texas campus. Utilizing Vedero Software, the University will automatically curtail energy in response to electric grid emergencies.
Texas Wesleyan will curtail electricity automatically on demand using pre-defined curtailment scenarios utilizing Vedero Software. By committing to reduce electric load from the grid in emergency situations, Texas Wesleyan is providing immediate relief to the grid as a clean alternative to running stand-by power generators, as well as helping to reduce the need for more power plants.
“Automating demand response through Vedero Software allowed us to demonstrate leadership in energy efficiency,” said Steve Roberts, associate vice president, Texas Wesleyan University, said. “We’re embracing a green program that is good for the environment and our neighbors in Texas.”
Vedero Software provides a robust platform that ensures maximization of demand response events, while maintaining occupant comfort through existing Building Automation Systems
“We welcome Texas Wesleyan as our newest customer that is committed to energy efficiency and demand response,” said Joe Pollard, CEO, Vedero Software.
