Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy Led By The Masters

You don’t want just another marriage and family therapist program—join our one-of-a-kind Ph.D. program and prepare to be the best in your field.

On top of elevating your practice, you’ll influence the future of marriage and family therapy. You’ll mentor masters-level counselors preparing for their license, and have research and publication opportunities that allow you to leave your mark in the LMFT community.

You'll earn your Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy in small, seminar-style classes that put you at the feet of the masters, and you won’t have to go out of your way to get there. Our campus is just a few minutes east of downtown Fort Worth.

Learn Different Therapy Models—Not Just One

To be the best, you need to learn from the best—and at Texas Wesleyan you do. We bring in the masters of every therapy model and immerse you in the techniques that prepare your practice for a new level of excellence. You won’t find that in any other marriage and family therapy doctoral program.

Here are some of the master therapists that have presented at our seminars:

  • Dr. Wendel Ray on Revisiting the History of Communications Theory and Systems Theory
  • Dr. Don Meichenbaum on Trauma and Resilience: A Life-Span Intervention Approach
  • Dr. Terry Hargrave on Restoration Therapy: Elements of Healing in Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Dr. Monica McGoldrick on Context and Connection: Genograms, A Sense of Home, and Transforming Life Narratives

Not an LMFT? No Problem.

As a professional counselor or social worker, you are a perfect candidate for our Ph.D. in MFT. Depending on your master’s level coursework, you could take up to 12 additional hours to prepare you for your Ph.D., then move seamlessly in to the program.

Skip the GRE and Get Straight to Class

We know you’ve already put in the work to pass your licensure exam, so we don’t want you to take valuable time away from your clients to study for yet another test. Our program does not require you to take the GRE, just that you have your full, associate or intern license in Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling or Social Work.

A Schedule That Won’t Interrupt Your Practice

Your clients are your priority, and our Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy classes let you keep it that way. Our part-time, evening and weekend schedule is perfect for Dallas/Fort Worth therapists who need a local Ph.D. program.
