Greek Life makes mountain of change
Last week Texas Wesleyan fraternities and sororities participated in Greek Life’s first annual penny wars as part of their Greek week activities. Over the course of the week, members scoured their rooms and engaged their friends to donate change for their organization. Pennies added points, while anything above that deducted points from another group of their choice.
The competition heated up quickly, with some organization members donating cash, and others soliciting change from their peers in elevators and across campus. After the points had all been tallied, the group with the highest number of points had the total money raised donated to the charity of their choice.
This year’s winner was Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and over $800 is being donated to Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism.
