Need help developing your resume or cover letter? Our Career Counselors can assist you with sample resumes and resume critiques. All staff are trained to the latest resume changes employers suggest in the DFW area.
A career counselor will guide you step by step to ensure the format and keywords and scannable to land the next step of the process which is an interview.
Interviewing can be an intimidating process for many students. Conducting a mock interview provides you with the confidence in yourself and your answers by preparing you for thinking on your toes and ensuring you answer the full question asked.
A career counselor will ask a list of specific questions relevant to the students chosen field. They will then provide honest feedback and what was answered well and what could include rewording. The counselor will also provide tips on body language, eye contact and interview attire.
Our career counselors will assist you with planning your job search from where to look to how to network. They start with getting an overview of your career goals and then suggesting certain websites and contacts to aid you in your search.
Our Career Center partners with more than 3,000 contacts that we provide to students for further research of job opportunities. We recognize that every job search is different, so we provide tailored advise for each student to best aid them in their search.
Our career counselors partner closely with the Academic Success Center (ASC) in providing students aid in writing their personal statements. While we will not write your personal statement for you, we will assist with organizing your ideas and content to produce the best personal statement possible. We can also assist you in managing the entire application process.
For grammar and spelling, we recommend scheduling an appointment with a tutor in the ASC for further review.
We provide major exploration for prospective and current students. We have supplemental material to help make your decision and determine how it relates to your career options.
A career counselor will recommend you take an assessment to determine your interests. We then will interpret your results and provide suggestions to take back to your adviser for course selection. An interest assessment will help determine work environments, occupations, majors and more that match to your current interests selected.
Have you ever been told you need more experience? Are you wondering how you can get experience if no one will give you a chance for experience? We can help you to identify internships, volunteer opportunities and other options for gaining this experience to put on your resume towards your field.
Since no two experiences are alike, we tailor opportunities for each student to enable them to reach their next career goal.
