Clinical Coordinators from around the U.S. meet at Texas Wesleyan

On Sept. 15 and 16, clinical coordinators from all over the U.S. met at Texas Wesleyan for networking, fun, and CEUs. These clinical coordinators are responsible for organizing student clinical experiences and completing evaluations on students at both primary and enrichment sites. Meeting together once yearly gives GPNA faculty and clinical coordinators an opportunity to forge relationships, be updated on new accreditation requirements and brainstorm ways to improve student residency experiences.

Continuing education topics this year included a mock clinical evaluation committee, APRN regulatory requirements, legal issues surrounding clinical education, predictive admission requirements and an introduction to the new ultrasound curriculum being implemented in our simulation center. Two senior students also presented their doctoral research. On Friday evening, the coordinators were treated to a Mexican dinner and participated in an escape room with some of the TXWES faculty.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a clinical coordinator? Have you ever wished you had students at your facility? The program is always looking for great sites that practice to the limit of our scope of practice … especially if those sites provide specialty experiences in obstetrics, hearts, central lines or pediatrics. Give us a call — we can answer all your questions!
