Texas Wesleyan Connects with Hope-4-Kids to Host Fall Health Fair
If you were driving down East Rosedale Street in the Poly area on Saturday, October 11, you may have noticed some commotion caused by students holding up signs directing passers-by onto Collard Street and into the Polytechnic United Methodist Church's parking lot to receive free groceries. This was part of an ongoing partnership between Texas Wesleyan's School of Arts and Sciences and Hope-4-Kids. The event was the Hope-4-Kids Health Fair at Texas Wesleyan on Saturday, October 11 from 10am-2pm. The Polytechnic United Methodist Church building and parking lot served as the hub for the event, which included free haircuts and health screenings inside, with groceries, clothing, games, and free snow cones outside. Thanks to the students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends who supported this great cause to serve over 300 families in our community.
Hope 4 Kids founder Rose Braziel, who was on hand for the event. She said that growing up in a household of 12, she "didn’t have much financially, but [was] taught love, respect, and kindness, and I can personally remember it having an effect on how much effort and influence my teachers would invest in encouraging me. I had the capabilities of becoming or doing anything with my life." She hopes to not only help neighborhood families but also inspire others to serve.
At Texas Wesleyan, we are committed to modeling compassionate and courageous leadership to our students and for our community!
