The Voices of Fort Worth ensemble has been invited to perform at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association convention in Kansas City, Mo., on March 8, 2016.
"This is a very prestigious event," said Jerome M. Bierschenk. "Choirs are selected by audition, and the regional event includes choirs representing the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. We are very proud to be one of the choirs representing the state of Texas."
Voices of Fort Worth is one of the newest music ensembles to hit the Fort Worth choral music scene. Founded by artistic director Jerome M. Bierschenk, DMA, in 2012, the chamber choir has given impressive performances in many venues in and around Fort Worth, including Wesleyan's own Martin Hall.
In addition to being directed by Dr. Bierschenk, chair of the Texas Wesleyan Department of Music, 18 of its 23 members are also strongly connected to the University, with 13 alumni and 5 current students counted among the ranks.
"This event designates the choir as one of the best, and the fact that there are so many Wesleyan alums and students in the group speaks very highly of our Department of Music. I could not be more proud."
The choir will begin its fourth concert season this fall. More information about the choir and its future performances can be found at the Voices of Fort Worth website.
