Theatre professor and alumni among 2026 Live Theatre League Award recipients

The Live Theatre League of Tarrant County has announced the recipients of their annual awards, as well as individual service awards recipients for each theatre organization that is a member of the League. The 31st Annual Awards ceremony will be held at Casa Mañana on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:00 pm and is open to the public.
Among these recipients are Texas Wesleyan alumna Shannon McGrann (recipient of the Elston Brooks Lifetime Achievement Award), alumni Rayven Harris (recipient of the Bill Garber Young Theatre Artist Award), and faculty member Karen Potter (recipient of an Individual Service Award) for her service and commitment to Theatre Wesleyan.

Potter joined Texas Wesleyan University in 2015. Her work has been seen in various theatres and film festivals across the country.  She is a designer for theatre, opera, film, and television. She worked for the California Institute of the Arts as a Costume Shop Manager and Adjunct Faculty.  She lives with her two children and husband in Fort Worth, TX and works throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. 

She received her Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre Design and a minor in Photography from Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and a Master of Fine Arts in Costume/Scenic Design from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  She has worked as a Freelance Costume Designer for Theatre Arlington, Artisan Theatre, Resident Costume Designer for Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN., worked for Studio Arena Theatre, Buffalo, NY, and The Burgess Meredith Little Theatre, Middlebury, VT.  Recent costume design credits include: Gypsy, Hooray for the Holidays 2, Cake, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sister Act, Uncle Vanya, and Stone Soup at Fort Worth Opera.  Film/Television credits include: award-winning short White Like the Moon, directed by Marina Palmier, produced by Richard Pierce; The Last Gun Shot by Gabriela Tollman, and Pizza Time (TV spec pilot), produced by Todd Holland.  Her most recent endeavor was directing The Glass Menagerie, produced by Texas Wesleyan University.
