The Student Theatrical Experience Fund, a partnership with the Student Government Association and Theatre Wesleyan established in 2016, will be available to the students for the upcoming production of The Glass Menagerie. The fund helps TXWES students see Theatre Wesleyan shows for free.
A seminal memory play of the American theatre, The Glass Menagerie follows Amanda Wingfield (Ashley Spyker), a faded remnant of Southern gentility who now lives in a cramped St. Louis apartment with her aimless son, Tom (Trent Cole), and her debilitatingly shy daughter, Laura (Maddox Hawthorne). With their father absent and the Great Depression in motion, the siblings find comfort in their distractions - alcohol, movies and writing for Tom and a collection of glass animals for Laura. When a gentleman caller (Tristan Andrews) arrives for dinner, the Wingfield family is flooded with hope. But it’s uncertain if this mysterious visitor will change things for the better or shatter a family’s fragile illusions.
Performances of The Glass Menagerie will be held at the Thad Smotherman Theatre/Law Sone Fine Arts building:
Seating is limited, so placing reservations in advance is highly encouraged.
