5 Reasons To See Theatre Wesleyan's "The Ives Archives"
This event is open to the public

Theatre Wesleyan will welcome back alumni Connie Sanchez and Cameron Byerly to guest direct The Ives Archives, an evening of six, short one-act plays written by acclaimed playwright David Ives.

The Ives Archives will be presented for one weekend only at the Thad Smotherman Theatre at Texas Wesleyan University (1205 Binkley Street, 76105) from October 3 through October 5. Tickets are $10.00 and are now available at txwes.edu/theatretickets.

Here are 5 reasons that members of the #RAMily should see this production:

1. First-year theatre students are making their stage debuts!

15 out of 19 total cast members are making their first appearances on the Theatre Wesleyan stage in these one-act comedies. We make it a point to allow prospective and current students to work on shows as soon as they step foot on campus during their first semester. We are thrilled that these students are getting a chance to bask in the spotlight.

2. Alumni guest directors are sharing their wisdom with the next generation.

Connie Sanchez and Cameron Byerly have worked in the DFW theatre community and educational theatre for years. Not only are they using the skills they acquired during their TXWES days, but they are bringing their expertise as working theatre artists to current TXWES students hoping to do the same.

3. Upperclassmen designers have been hard at work on six shows-in-one!

It takes a village to put on a theatre production, let alone six short one-act plays that will be produced in one evening! We have designers pulling furniture and costumes, building scenic pieces, designing lighting and sound effects, animating for projections, and more for six very different shows. We cannot wait to see the final product!

4. Everyone needs a good laugh!

What better way to spend an evening than laughing at some ridiculous sitcom-style scenarios performed live on stage? From primates rewriting Hamlet on typewriters, to mayflies pondering their death, mini-golfing gone wrong, these plays (by legendary playwright David Ives) have been a staple for years, which must mean there's always something to laugh about!

5. Affordable ticket price for all members of the TXWES community and general public.

For just $10 a ticket, enjoy an evening out supporting the hard work of our theatre students. Whether you dress up or dress casual for the theatre, you're welcome to join us for the first show of our 2024-25 season!
