Guidelines for resolving conflicts with rescheduled exams

Because of the inclement weather conditions, many finals have been rescheduled. Specifically, some finals have been moved past the initial final exam time frame and grade submission deadlines.

Because of these changes, students could have unforeseen conflicts with the new final exam schedule. Here are some guidelines for handling these conflicts as they arise:

  • We understand the inclement weather is out of the control of the students as well as the university, and change in exam schedule could not be avoided.
  • Faculty should always be open to speaking with students regarding these conflicts. It is important the student initiates communication as soon as possible with the faculty member to resolve any issues.
  • Students should contact their professor immediately if there is a conflict. If the student is unable to contact their professor or resolve the conflict with the class instructor, the student should contact their department chair or the dean's office to address the issue as soon as possible.
  • If necessary, the make-up exam does not have to occur prior to commencement. Graduation Commencement is a ceremony — official degrees are not awarded at the ceremony.

Any additional questions or concerns regarding the new final exam schedule or exam conflicts should be directed to the Provost Office at 817-531-4405.
