Young philanthropy group awards money to Literacy United
The North Texas Community Foundation’s young philanthropy group, WORTH: The Next Generation of Philanthropists, awarded $23,000 to Texas Wesleyan alumna and Literacy United founder Kary Johnson M.Ed. ’03 Ed.D. ’13.
The grant will fund Literacy United’s Reading Panthers. Reading Panthers is a summer reading intervention program for struggling readers attending the Panther Boys and Girls Club. The project will launch in June of 2017 and will serve approximately 50 children ages five to eight who are 100% economically disadvantaged.
