Are you motivated, dynamic and concerned about civil responsiblity? Then the Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship might be for you. Applications are being accepted through Feb. 25 for the 2021/2022 year.
The Sumners Scholarship provides recipients with up to $4,000 each semester of their junior and senior years, for up to a total of $16,000. To apply, a student must be in good standing with the University, have completed at least 60 college hours by the start of the award, have a 3.0 GPA or higher and have a record of university or community involment and service.
The endowed Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship Program was established at Texas Wesleyan University in 1994. Since that time, many TXWES students have been honored as Sumners Scholars. The scholarship carries not only significant funding, but also various opportunities, such as participation in the Hatton W. Sumners Student Policy Weekend, the Texas Tribune Festival and various other events specifically designed to develop scholars' leadership potential. Finally, as of spring 2019, scholars also serve the community through volunteer opportunities.
