Texas Wesleyan University is excited to announce a new program that offers free tuition to incoming first-year students from Texas who qualify for full Pell Grant eligibility beginning fall 2025.
This groundbreaking initiative, launched by University President Dr. Emily Messer, is designed to make Texas Wesleyan’s high-quality education more accessible to talented students across the state. By eliminating tuition costs, the University aims to empower students to pursue their academic and career goals without financial burdens.
"This program is a game-changer for students in Texas who dream of a college education, especially at a small, private institution like Texas Wesleyan, that may face financial barriers,” Messer said. “We believe in the power of education to transform lives. By eliminating tuition barriers for deserving Texas students, we're opening doors to countless opportunities.”
To qualify, first-time college students in Texas will need to apply to Texas Wesleyan and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if they are eligible for the full Pell Grant. The program will then cover any remaining tuition not covered by the full grant.
Students can renew their free tuition for up to four years if they remain enrolled full-time and maintain satisfactory academic standards. They may also be eligible for additional scholarships and financial aid to cover costs for books and room and board.
With this program, Texas Wesleyan University aims to attract talented students with diverse socio-economic backgrounds from across the state and provide them with a transformative educational experience in one of the top job markets in the United States.
