3 Free Things to Do on the TXWES Campus

Are you looking for a way to enjoy all that Texas Wesleyan University has to offer without breaking the bank? Check out free, family friendly activities you can do on campus: 

 

1. Visit the “Mary Apple and the Beasties of Bean Cathedral” exhibition at the Bernice Coulter Templeton Gallery.  Created by a TXWES alum, these works showcase the healing brought by nature in the artist's life. Read more about the inspiration of the exhibit HERE.

Dates: October 13th through December 13th

 2. Attend one of the many music department’s concerts. There is a performance for all tastes with the jazz band, Mariachi Oro Azul, and senior recitals performing free shows in November. See the schedule HERE.

  • Jazz Combo Concert on Wednesday, November 12th at 7:30 PM

  • Junior Instrumental Recital on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:30 PM 
  • Mariachi Oro Azul Concert on Wednesday, November 19th at 5:30 PM 
  • Student Chamber Recital on Thursday, November 20th at 7:30 PM 
  • Senior Vocal Recital on Friday, November 21st at 7:30 PM

 3. Enjoy a stroll around campus to see the changing fall leaves. Walking the entire perimeter of the campus is a mile and allows you to see what has stayed the same and what has changed. You can also stop by the TXWES sign in front of the library for a photo. And if weather permits, there are picnic tables on Kay Granger Mall that would be a perfect place for a sack lunch.

Bonus: TXWES is the site of the Funkytown Mindful Market the first Saturday of every month with the mission to increase food access in East Fort Worth. The market hosts demonstrations and highlights local vendors that bring culturally relevant activities, products, and services that help community members live their best and most authentic selves.
