What is your major and planned graduation year?
I am a biology major with an English minor and a chemistry minor. I am currently set to graduate in 2026.
What are your plans after graduation?
My main plan after college is to attend dental school to further pursue my dream of being a dentist. I might go into the military to help with dental school. I have a lot of family members who have been in the military, mainly the Air Force and Navy. They always tell me that going into the military can really help create a path to success. I still haven’t decided if that’s what I’m going to do but it’s an excellent option. Other than dental school and the military, I would like to start my own dental practice.
Why did you choose Texas Wesleyan?
Texas Wesleyan has always been a part of my life. Ever since I was a little kid my parents would take me to Mexican Inn and then we would drive around the campus really slowly as my parents would tell stories about their classes, band practices, and professors. I was always so fascinated by their stories, hearing them made me want an experience just like it. The amazing memories they made at Texas Wesleyan truly interested me. This school has also always been a part of my family. Many of my family members went to TXWES and it’s also the place where my parents originally met each other. My grandpa was the basketball coach and athletic director at TXWES and many of my aunts and uncles also attended this school. Being able to attend a school with so much of my family’s history in it made it an easy choice for me. Both the memories my parents made, and the legacy of my family were the main reasons I chose to attend Texas Wesleyan.
What are your favorite things about being a student at TXWES?
Some of my favorite things about Texas Wesleyan are the friendships I’ve made and my relationships with my professors. I’ve been able to make so many amazing friends and connections in my time at TXWES. I spend a lot of time with people that are also biology majors. Before coming to TXWES I was a shy person that didn’t talk much and sort of stayed to myself, but being here and in the biology department, I’ve been able to open up socially. I feel like I’m able to be myself thanks to the community that TXWES has created. The friendships I’ve made are ones I will cherish for the rest of my life. Along with this my relationships with my professors are also very important to me. Anytime I need help on an assignment or more explanation of a concept, I can count on them to lend a hand. They are always encouraging and have helped me through a lot of difficult tasks. The professors at TXWES have made me want to learn more and inspired me to further pursue my dreams.
Tell us some interesting facts about yourself.
I have many different hobbies and interests, so I’ll only list a few. I am a Christian who regularly goes to church. I am involved in a group called Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at UTA which is a church group for college students. I am also very into music; I listen to music any chance I get. I have a vinyl collection which I use quite often. I mainly listen to electronic, pop, and experimental music. I also have a passion for fashion, I love vintage and designer clothing. If I wasn’t doing dentistry, I would want to be a fashion designer. I love how fashion can be a way of self-expression and show emotion. It has helped me a lot with confidence, putting on a cool outfit for the day can really help impact my ability to be social.
