The campus was busy on Saturday morning at the 6th annual Wesleyan 5K. More than 250 runners, walkers, volunteers and vendors came to campus and enjoyed the beautiful weather and spirit of community. Fort Worth City Council members Chris Nettles, Janette Martinez and Michael Crain were in attendance, with councilwoman Martinez sounding the starting horn to kick off the race. Texas Wesleyan’s Mariachi Oro Azul played for participants before and during the race, and student Gabby Little performed the national anthem. Willie the Ram led the participants of the 1-mile Willie Walk around campus and happily posed for pictures. Our own President Messer even took home a medal, coming in third in her age bracket! After the race, participants enjoyed snacks, the fun zone with bounce houses and airbrush tattoos, and vendors including free massage and chiropractic services. Texas Wesleyan is grateful to our sponsors for making this event possible: Mortiz Dealerships, presenting sponsor; PNC Bank, gold medal sponsor; Goodwill Industries and Texas Health Resources, blue ribbon sponsors, Dr. Greg Phillips and Phillips Total Health, area sponsor; and The Fort Worth Report, media partner.
