Martha Earngey '77, director of development for annual gifts, talks about the positive influence Texas Wesleyan had on her life. She graduated from the School of Business Administration with her B.B.A. in Management.
Why Texas Wesleyan?
"At the time, I wasn't happy at the University of Texas and was interested in transferring to a smaller school. I was deciding whether to attend TCU or Texas Wesleyan. After visiting both schools, I chose Texas Wesleyan because of the small classes and location – I grew up in the TCU neighborhood and wanted a new experience."
What did you like most about TXWES?
"Texas Wesleyan made me feel important and my professors cared about my success. I learned the importance of building strong relationships and made life-long friends. My Texas Wesleyan family – classmates and faculty – have been with me for over 40 years and I can't imagine my life without them."
How did Texas Wesleyan have a positive influence in your life?
"Going to school here gave me confidence in myself. When I transferred to Texas Wesleyan, I was quite shy. I had the chance to be active in student organizations, work as an RA in the residence halls and learn in a small class environment. These opportunities prepared me for a successful career in the mortgage banking industry and in fundraising."
North Texas Giving Day is on Sept. 14 and is a day for the North Texas community to come together and support their area charities and non-profit organizations. When you give on Sept. 14, you're directly supporting the Wesleyan Fund and important university initiatives. This year, you even have the option to make your pledge a week early from Sept. 7-13.
