Sept. 16 marks a day of firsts for Texas Wesleyan University's art gallery. From 2-4 p.m. an artist reception for the current exhibition Dual: Angel Fernandez & Winter Rusiloski will be held, and you are invited. This is the first artist reception of the first regularly scheduled exhibition season in the first dedicated exhibition space since 1941 and the first to feature one of our own alumni, Angel Fernandez '01 along with his wife, Winter Rusiloski.
The works of these artists offer an exhibition energized by color that invites viewers to enjoy Fernandez's Oldenburg-esque oversized sculpture and smaller sculptures that are initially humorous but have very serious expressive undertones. Along with Rusilosky's paintings that are electrified expressive memories of nature – landscapes specifically. The artists will be in attendance at the opening.
The Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio gallery is open for visitors Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Professors from all disciplines are invited and encouraged to use the gallery as an additional teaching tool. This new university gallery belongs to the Wesleyan community and promises to provide an environment in which learning occurs and where cultural experiences expand creative and intellectual curiosity.
