Rosedale Renaissance nears completion
The Rosedale Renaissance projects are near completion, just in time to welcome students and faculty back to campus in August.
"The new conference center [for the United Methodist Central Texas Conference] is getting its finishing touches this week." Brian Franks, executive director of facilities development and operations, said. "Landscaping and furniture delivery will also start this week."
Renovations to the historic Polytechnic Firehouse are wrapping up as well, which will be the new home of the art department.
Construction of the new clock tower and entryway is scheduled to be completed in September.
"At the beginning of the summer, contractors had to focus their efforts on the conference center, counseling center and firehouse, in order for the office and classroom space to be completed for the fall semester," Franks said. "Now that those projects are wrapping up, the clock tower and entry way is the main focus."
Construction of all the Rosedale Renaissance projects was delayed because of heavy winter weather and record-breaking rainfall in May.
The University is planning a Rosedale Renaissance Dedication Ceremony on Oct. 22 for students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, friends of the University and local officials.
