From the Classroom to the National Stage, Dr. Campbell Leads Through Words

When it comes to empowering students through words, collaboration, and creativity, Dr. Stacia Campbell has been a driving force at Texas Wesleyan University. Now, she’s taking that same spirit to a national stage as she begins her new role on the Board of Directors for the College English Association (CEA)—a position that allows her to represent Wesleyan among national leaders in English studies and bring new ideas, partnerships, and opportunities back to campus.

For more than two decades, Campbell has helped shape Wesleyan’s English department and championed student growth through writing, leadership, and empathy. Her recent election to the CEA Board marks a milestone not only in her career but in the university’s story—a recognition of the innovative, student-centered work being done on campus.“These opportunities open doors for our students,” Campbell says. “When I attend national conferences, I come home with ideas that strengthen what we do here.”

The College English Association is a national organization that unites educators, scholars, and writers who are passionate about the study and teaching of English language and literature. As a board member, Campbell will help shape the direction of the organization and contribute to national conversations about pedagogy, curriculum, and the future of humanities education.

For Campbell, this role represents more than professional recognition—it’s a chance to amplify what defines Wesleyan: collaboration, creativity, and community.
“Being part of the board means I can share Wesleyan’s story on a national level,” she explains. “It’s also a way to bring new perspectives and best practices back to our classrooms. What I learn through these connections directly benefits our students.”
Her election reflects both her own dedication and the university’s growing presence in national academic circles—proof that Wesleyan’s impact extends far beyond campus.

That connection between national involvement and local impact is at the heart of Campbell’s work. On campus, her vision has led to meaningful initiatives like the Writers Collective, and the Engage Studio—spaces that give students the chance to write, collaborate, and lead with confidence. Each project reflects her belief that strong communication builds strong communities.

In the classroom, Campbell continues to inspire through courses in rhetoric, composition, and leadership, helping students see how language can be used to motivate and connect. “I tell my students that leadership is about empathy,” she says. “It’s about how we use our words to inspire change.”

As she steps into her new role on the CEA Board of Directors, Campbell sees it not as a personal achievement, but as another way to advance the mission that has defined her career: empowering others to see what’s possible. “Wesleyan is a place where dreams are not only imagined—they’re supported,” she says. “And now, I get to share that message with colleagues across the country.”

By bringing Wesleyan’s collaborative spirit to the national stage, Dr. Campbell continues to prove that when passion meets purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom.
