School of Education students volunteered at the National Association for Bilingual Education Conference Feb. 15-17 at the Dallas Hilton Anatole. More than 18 Texas Wesleyan students volunteered at the event.
Annette Torres Elías, assistant professor of education, chaired the volunteer committee, and Patsy Robles-Goodwin, associate professor of bilingual education, and Elsa M. Anderson, assistant professor curriculum and instruction, co-chaired the facilitators committee.
Torres Elías and Robles-Goodwin presented “Early Literacy Writing: Scaffolding Teaching and Learning Interactions,” and Anderson presented “Have You Discovered Language Workshop? Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Across Languages and Content Areas.” Torres Elías also chaired the “Policy Makers Special Interest Group” meeting, which addressed upcoming legislative and policy changes.
