Join us for a Mitchell-Reed Community of Learners Lecture at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Library Orientation Room. Dr. Twyla Miranda, Professor of Education, will present on her recently published book The Value of Academic Discourse: Conversations That Matter, with coauthor and Texas Wesleyan alum Dr. Jeffrey Herr, Associate Professor at Tarrant County College. Brown bag lunches are welcome; light refreshments provided by the Office of the Provost.
Influenced and mentored by the late Dr. Ron Reed, Dr. Twyla Miranda and Dr. Jeffrey Herr will present the theme of holding important academic conversations from their recently published book The Value of Academic Discourse: Conversations That Matter (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). Learning to make space and time for academic conversations resonates throughout the ten chapters. The journey of gathering material, writing and publishing the book will also be discussed. Guest authors who contributed chapters may be present to elaborate further on their notion of conversations in educational settings.
