Therapy dogs in the library on May 8
Come relax and de-stress with Paws Across Texas and their registered therapy dogs before finals arrive! The Canine Counselors starts at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in the Library Orientation Room. Paws Across Texas, a nonprofit organization based in Fort Worth, "provide(s) diversified therapy programs using trained volunteers (representatives) and their privately owned companion animals (registered therapy dogs)."
Research shows that therapy animals can help alleviate stress and anxiety students often feel from school. According to Psychology Today, "when a person pets a friendly and familiar dog... that person's blood pressure lowered, heart rate slowed, breathing became more regular and muscle tension relaxed-all of which are signs of reduced stress."
This is a free event, but Paws Across Texas will be accepting donations.
