On Thursday, May 19 at Farrington Field in Fort Worth, Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) officially announced the Global Clasico football game to be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 versus Arkansas State University - Campus Querétaro (ASUCQ), as the Rams home opener. Texas Wesleyan University President Fredrick G. Slabach, Head Football Coach Joe Prud’homme and Arkansas State University - Campus Querétaro Head Football Coach Gerardo Antonio Tajonar Garduño visited with members of the media to discuss details about the upcoming Global Clasico football game presented by National Bank of Texas of Fort Worth.
The contest will be among the few international football games to be played in North America this upcoming season. ASUQC is the only university in Mexico that gives its students the ability to gain an American college degree inside of Mexico and currently has approximately 1,000 students.
“Texas Wesleyan University is ranked among the most diverse national universities and is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution,” said President Fredrick G. Slabach. “We are focused on continuing to provide a diverse and inclusive student experience, and this game is just an example of us fulfilling that mission. I want to thank head football coach, Joe Prud’homme, for his work to make it possible.”
“I’m excited that we will be hosting the Red Wolves from Querétaro, Mexico in the Global Clasico, presented by The National Bank of Texas of Fort Worth at Farrington Field to launch the 2022 season,” said Coach Prud’homme. “This event will be much more than just a football contest, it will be an opportunity to attend a historic international game in the great city of Fort Worth where hospitality, culture and football will combine for a one-of-a-kind experience. There is only one place to be on August 27 at 7 p.m ... Fort Worth, Texas!”

The Global Clasico will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at Farrington Field in Fort Worth, Texas.
