Texas Wesleyan Volleyball Takes Their Season to Nationals
The Lady Rams’ journey this season has been defined by trust, and unshakable chemistry — the kind that carried them through tough matches, close calls and a Co-Conference Championship, ultimately earning them a spot on the national stage. With Nationals on the horizon, senior middle blocker Sydney Alexander has been a driving force behind a Lady Rams team defined by grit and determination.
“We have a really strong bond on and off the court,” senior middle blocker Sydney Alexander said. “There’s no drama, we trust each other and if someone is struggling, someone else steps up to lift them.” That trust has been the backbone of a team ready to take on the biggest stage in their sport. Every practice, every match and every late-game rally built the momentum they now carry into Nationals.
Even during a narrow five-set loss earlier in the season, the team’s resilience shone through. “We left everything on the court,” Alexander said. “It showed the grit we’ve built all season.” That mindset — to stay together, support each other and compete relentlessly — is exactly what the Lady Rams will bring to the national tournament.
The path to Nationals wasn’t without obstacles. The Lady Rams faced moments that tested their focus, from tough losses to physically and mentally demanding games. Yet through it all, they relied on each other and the strength of their bond, building a team identity that balances determination with confidence. “We were confident the whole season,” Alexander said. “Not cocky — just confident in our preparation and in each other.”
For Alexander, who has played volleyball since she was 12, Nationals is more than just another competition. “It’s hard to accept that I’m about to be done with the sport I love,” she said. “But this moment — for the whole team — is what we’ve worked for.” And while she’s one of the leaders on the team, it’s the collective effort that defines the Lady Rams. From freshmen to seniors, every player has contributed to the culture and the results that brought them here.
Off the court, Alexander keeps things simple: boba, matcha and self-care. But it’s her dedication and understanding of the game that reflects the team’s culture: focused, confident, and ready for anything. Those qualities, paired with the talent across the roster, make the Lady Rams a team to watch as they head into Nationals.
Now, as the Lady Rams step onto the national stage, it’s not about individual accolades or stats. It’s about teamwork, preparation and seizing the moment they’ve earned together. The upcoming matches are a culmination of every early morning, late-night practice and moment of trust and perseverance the team has built. For Sydney and her teammates, Nationals isn’t just a destination — it’s a testament to a season defined by unity, resilience and a standard they set for themselves and the entire program.
