Oklahoma City - 95 teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference were named to the 2023-24 SAC All-Academic Scholar Teams list as announced by the conference office on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Texas Wesleyan University paced the All-Academic Scholar team selections with 16 of our 19 athletic teams making the list. Oklahoma City was second on the list with 15 of their 21 sports earning honors while Wayland Baptist saw 11 of their teams earn the third spot on the list.

To have a team listed on the All-Academic list, a team must have a combined 3.00 Grade Point Average among the student-athletes on the team and was calculated using the institution's normal GPA rules regarding repeated courses, transfer credit, etc. Sum the total quality points/GPA points earned by all team members and divide by the sum of the total GPA hours earned by the team members.

President Emily Messer stated that "Texas Wesleyan University takes great pride in leading the Sooner Conference with having the most scholar-athlete teams. This achievement exemplifies excellence both on the field and in the classroom. These students are not just athletes; they are students who inspire our Rams with their determination, and passion for both their academic and athletic pursuits.”

Athletic Director Ricky Dotson added that "This achievement ranks right there with all the conference championships we’ve claimed. I am extremely proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments in the classroom. To have 16 teams earn Scholar Team recognition is amazing and is a testament to our student-athletes, our faculty, our coaches, and to Dr. Jill Gerloff who has spear-headed the academic efforts for our department. We believe in the term student-athlete, and to produce these types of results shows that we don’t just talk about it, we live and breathe it."
