Texas Wesleyan University kicked off the year with the 134th Academic Year Convocation, a ceremony that welcomed a diverse and talented group of new students to campus. The event featured inspiring addresses from distinguished speakers, including University President Emily Messer, Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Hector Quintanilla, Faculty Chair Dr. Pam Rast, Student Government Association President Jordan Henthorn and first-year student Max Gusman. Their words of encouragement and guidance set the tone for a transformative academic journey for the incoming class, which represented 16 states and 16 countries.

While official numbers will be reported in September, the University is positioned to increase enrollment for degree-seeking students compared to the previous year. This growth is a testament to Texas Wesleyan's commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities and a supportive learning environment.

Among the most popular majors for incoming freshmen, general business, business analytics and psychology continue to be top choices. For transfer students, exercise science, management and general business are the preferred fields of study.

The University's location in Fort Worth provides a unique advantage for students, as the city's economic growth offers numerous opportunities for internships and networking. By learning on campus, students can immerse themselves in the vibrant city culture and benefit from the numerous internships, networking events and career development resources available.

Following the convocation, new students took a class photo and received a free t-shirt and lunch, savoring their first weeks as Texas Wesleyan Rams.
