Tameir Grosvenor coined NAIA Women's Soccer All-American
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has announced the recipients of the 2018 Women’s Soccer NAIA All-American teams. The NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Women’s Soccer Coaches Association officers and seven additional women’s soccer coaches, select the three 11-member teams and the honorable mention teams. Tameir Grosvenor was tabbed to the Honorable Mention squad.
Grosvenor become the first women’s soccer player to receive All-American honors since Paige Wheaton in 2012.
“I’m very proud of Tameir,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs. “She is an incredible talent, extremely coachable, and an amazing young woman. I think I speak for the staff and her teammates when I say Tameir is very deserving of this honor.”
A sophomore from Desoto, Texas, the forward ranks first in the nation in game winning goals with 10. She leads the conference with 23 goals, scoring 1.35 goals per game, and 3.06 points per game.
She tallied a season-high seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) in a 9-1 win over Texas College, and vaulted her career hat-trick number to 4 after posting hat-tricks against Texas College and Oklahoma City.
Grosvenor is on pace to break Jessica Carrion’s career goals record of 72, set in 2005. She is also on pace to challenge Jessica Watton’s career assists record of 25. Grosvenor currently has 46 goals and 12 assists through two seasons.
She also became the first Lady Ram to win conference Player of the Year since Alejandra Barrera was named Red River POY in 2008.
The Lady Rams finished the season as the SAC regular season champions with an overall record of 13-4-1 and conference record of 6-1-1. The team is currently ranked 19th in the nation. The last time the team cracked the Top 25 was Sept. of 2013 (22nd).
The Sooner Athletic Conference took five spots on the All-American teams.
