Here’s what you should put on your TXWES bucket list

College life is not just about class. There are plenty of things to do on campus to get the most out of your TXWES experience.

Rub Willie’s horn

We know you study hard to ace your assignments, but a little luck doesn’t hurt either. Rub the horns of the Willie the Ram statue for a little bit of luck heading into the fall semester. It’s located right in front of the Brown-Lupton Campus Center entrance on the east side of the West Library.

Attend a TXWES athletic event

What better way to support our Rams than to cheer them on from the stands? Our fall sports home schedule begins on Saturday, Aug. 21 with our women’s soccer team kicking off the season at Martin Field. Our volleyball team takes the court at Sid Richardson Center on Friday, Aug. 27 and the football team plays their first home game of the year at Farrington Field on Saturday, Sept. 4.

The best part? As a student, you can attend on-campus sporting events for free, including football, with a valid TXWES ID. Ramsports.net has all the TXWES Athletics news and schedules.

Sit in the seat of a g-g-g-ghost!

Legend has it that it isn’t just our music students roaming around Martin Hall. So is someone from the great beyond! As the story goes, Georgia is the fine arts auditorium’s paranormal resident. She even has her own seat on the first floor. It’s easy to spot since it’s the only green seat in the room. Make sure to stop in and take a picture, or sit in the seat if you’re brave ...

See a Theatre Wesleyan show

Did you know we’re home to the longest running theatre tradition in North Texas? Theatre Wesleyan has been putting on shows for more than 65 years! You won’t want to miss its new season of productions, starting in September with William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Get the latest news on upcoming shows on the Theatre Wesleyan website or on its Facebook page.

Check out an on-campus art exhibit

Check out the latest works of art on display at the Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio. Fun fact: the studio is actually a renovated firehouse! Now, it’s home to some of the hottest artists on the scene. Check out the art studio’s website for details on the latest exhibitions.

Be the X in TXWES!

Strike a pose next to West Library and be the X in the TXWES sign! It's one of our signature on-campus photo ops. Don’t forget to share it online with #TXWES for a chance to be featured on our social feeds.

Bonus: Rest and refuel

We’ve got plenty of dining options to satisfy your appetite. Use your meal plan swipes or Ram Bucks for a meal at our dining hall, Dora’s Café. Over at the Martin Center, you can get a sandwich from Which Wich, pizza from Premium Pies or a fresh taco or burrito at Zoca. Don’t forget about the Coffee Shoppe which serves hot and iced Starbucks drinks for the boost you need to get through the day.

If you’re in the mood for something different, you're just a short walk away from Subway on Rosedale Street and Black Coffee, a locally-owned coffee shop just a couple of blocks down Vaughn Boulevard.
