Fort Worth ISD's 100x25FWTX Initiative is seeking volunteer reading mentors for 15 priority elementary schools and other volunteers for campuses district-wide. Prospective volunteer reading mentors should select “100x25FWTX Reader” in the online registration page’s “Volunteer Opportunity” blank.
FWISD will offer fall 2018 volunteer reader training through a series of “Ready Rosie” literacy skills videos. The online early childhood literacy platform is available to all FWISD families at https://readyrosie.com/fort-worth-isd/. Campus liaisons have been asked to reach out to approved, prospective volunteer reading mentors this month (October) and to send each volunteer a link to a series of Ready Rosie training videos to view before the mentor meets with his or her student.
Additional programs, including Reading Partners and Read2Win, also recruit and train volunteer reading mentors to support early literacy for elementary school children in the FWISD.
Reading Partners offers literacy tutoring programs in five Fort Worth ISD Leadership Academy elementary schools—Maude Logan, Mitchell Boulevard, John T. White, Como and Edward J. Briscoe—and is in immediate need of volunteers to staff the school-based program.
Reading Partners needs 60 volunteer tutors at each of its campuses to fully staff its programs. Currently, there are 16 volunteers at Briscoe Elementary, 21 at Mitchell Boulevard, and 10 volunteers at Logan. Sign up to help at https://readingpartners.org.
Read2Win partners with faith-based organizations and public safety professionals to provide reading mentors in more than 30 FWISD elementary schools.
The organization has an immediate need for at least 10 volunteers in each of the following schools:
