What is TexPREP?

TexPREP is a seven-week, mathematics-based, academic enrichment program emphasizing the development of abstract reasoning and problem-solving skills.

TexPREP helps students prepare for careers in the fields of mathematics, science, technology and engineering. The program includes coursework, team projects, class presentations, examinations, career awareness speakers, field trips and special events.

TexPREP is presented over the course of three summers in which the students reapply each year. 

Who can attend TexPREP?

Students entering the 7th grade are eligible if they have the interest and potential for careers in mathematics, technology, science or engineering. Minority students and women are especially encouraged to apply.

When is TexPREP?

June 5, 2023 - July 13, 2023. Approximately six hours per day plus homework.

Where is TexPREP?

TexPREP is offered all over the state of Texas at various college and university campuses. In Fort Worth, it is offered at Texas Wesleyan University.

What is the Cost of TexPREP?

The services of TexPREP are free to the students. Students will receive free lunch during the program.

FWISD provides free bus transportation for FWISD students only. TBD

Requirements

  • 7th grade students in the 2023 - 2024 academic year 
  • Parental permission
  • 80 average in mathematics class (75 or better if honors or AP)
  • 80 or better overall average
  • Satisfactory nominations from two teachers
  • Satisfactory conduct grades
  • A well-written essay on why you want to come to TexPREP
