Take advantage of living in a top 5 media market while studying at TXWES

Look for hands-on news and advertising opportunities

If you’re looking for a career in mass communications, the DFW Metroplex is a great place to look! From news to advertising agencies, there’s plenty of career options for you. Did you know that the Dallas Morning News is the 11th most-read news publication in the country? If print media isn’t quite your style, you have news powerhouses like WFAA and NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, which reach over 8 million people in the region. If you’re into advertising, you’re in luck — ad agencies like TRG in Dallas and Warren Douglas Advertising in Fort Worth are always looking for the best and brightest talent to add to their teams. As the DFW media market continues to grow, more jobs and opportunities will open every day!

Be part of DFW’s best entertainment

Hoping to turn your mass communication or sports communication degree into sports or entertainment? DFW has you covered! The Metroplex plays host to plenty of major league teams — the Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers and Stars to name a few — but also hosts all kinds of events from boxing to esports to rodeos and more.

If sports aren’t quite your thing, you’ll still have plenty of options. The Southside Ballroom, Billy Bob’s, the House of Blues and Texas Live! Are just a few of the iconic venues that DFW has to offer. And it’s not just Dallas — Fort Worth hosts the iconic Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo every year and boasts venues like Bass Hall. Whether you’re looking for a job, internship, or just to have a fun night on the town, there’s plenty of options for entertainment buffs!

Build your portfolio through the Rambler Media Group

If you decide to get a mass communication degree at Texas Wesleyan, you have more than off-campus opportunities! Through the Rambler Media Group, you can get production experience by working as part of Rambler TV’s Sports Access show. If you’re all about print media, you can hone your portfolio and write for The Rambler and therambler.org, our student-run media outlets.

Rub elbows with the best mass communication professionals in the industry

As a mass communication or sports communication major at TXWES, you’ll get to make big-name connections while still getting the personalized education that you deserve. Throughout your college career, you’ll have the chance to build your network through events like our Marjorie Herrera Lewis Endowed Speaker Series.
