Wesleyan Chorale presents concert of American poetry and music
The Wesleyan Chorale will present a concert of music by American composers Randall Thompson and Alice Parker, and their musical settings of selected poetry by American poets Robert Frost and Edna St. Vincent Millay.
Randall Thompson's setting of Frostiana is comprised of seven poems in seven separate movements which incorporate Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus and Mixed Choir. Likewise, Alice Parker's composition, Songstream is a series of individual poems by Millay which are composed by Parker in various styles for choir and piano.
The Wesleyan Chorale is conducted by Department Chair and Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Jerome M. Bierschenk. The chorale is comprised of all choral students in the Department of Music as well as members of the greater Fort Worth community. Keith Critcher will accompany on piano.
The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Martin Hall on Dec. 2, 2014. Admission is free.
