Dr. Halil Ibrahim Salih, professor of political science, has been selected to participate in the 2014 Saudi Arabia Malone Fellowship delegation, which begins in Washington D.C. and ends with an immersive experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The year-long Malone Fellowship is a cultural and educational exchange experience for undergraduate students and Model Arab League faculty advisors. Dr. Salih is one of just five faculty members from the U.S. who have been selected.
The Malone Fellowship is sponsored by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations (NCUSAR), the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission to the U.S. (SACM) and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Whereas thousands of Saudi Arabian students get to study in the U.S. at institutions such as Texas Wesleyan, the Malone Fellowship affords 10 American students a reciprocal study abroad opportunity to learn about Saudi Arabian government, business practices, academics as well as traditional and modern culture and life.
Dr. Salih has served as a professor at Texas Wesleyan for over 45 years. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of the Pacific and his master's and Ph.D. from American University. Dr. Salih's expertise is in European Government, International Law, Foreign Policy and International Relations. He has also coached the Texas Wesleyan Model Arab League for over a decade.
