Leading the Flock: Rams Honored as Albizo Scholars
The Spanish Department proudly congratulates Spanish major Beatriz Muñoz Sandoval and EC–6 Bilingual Education major Amy Ratcliff on being named recipients of the Lia M. Albizo Endowed Scholarship at this year’s Presidential Awards Luncheon.
A 1993 graduate of Texas Wesleyan University, Lia M. Albizo earned her BBA in Economics and Finance before building a distinguished career in the title industry, including roles at Fidelity Investments, Lawyers Title Insurance Company, and Fidelity National Financial (FNF), where she currently serves as Vice President and Deputy Chief Underwriting Counsel, following a distinguished career in underwriting and commercial real estate transactions. In recognition of the strong foundation she received at TXWES, Albizo established this scholarship to support future generations of Rams.
The Lia M. Albizo ’93 Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students with demonstrated need who are actively involved in the Latinx Student Association or the Bilingual Education Student Organization—communities that reflect the values of connection and commitment at Texas Wesleyan.
Beatriz and Amy embody these values through their academic achievement, leadership, and engagement on campus. As first-generation college students, their accomplishments reflect not only dedication and perseverance, but also a willingness to push beyond their comfort zones in pursuit of their goals. Their success highlights the importance not only of striving for excellence, but of building community along the way. Alumni like Lia M. Albizo—whose own accomplishments and commitment to giving back—allow future generations of Rams to thrive.
Congratulations to these remarkable Rams on this well-earned recognition.
