On Wednesday, Jan. 31 Wesleyan's Enactus team met for their first meeting of the spring semester at the new Jack Morton Business Accelerator to begin developing a strategy for each project and identifying volunteers to participate.
The team is very excited to announce there are 23 new members for the upcoming semester. This indicates a strong interest in the organization and also the willingness of our students to engage in social entrepreneurship on campus and in the local community.
There is still time to join the Enactus Texas Wesleyan team and get involved at some level. If you are interested but have not been able to attend a meeting, please contact either Dr. Wright at mcwright99@txwes.edu or Dr. Ogruk at gogruk@txwes.edu for more information.
Projects active this semester include
- Degree – building community and creating networking opportunities for non-traditional and commuting students to create an optimal experience while studying at Texas Wesleyan University.
- Inspired Readers – focusing on K-2 literacy development in a local elementary school and bringing career exploration to students that may not otherwise have an opportunity to learn about the countless career opportunities available in our society. Partnering with a local startup, Dream Outside the Box, will be a source for the curriculum to advance this project.
- Simply Healthy – the goal is to build health and wellness on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University through healthier lifestyle options including snacks and educational opportunities. This team will work alongside the Blue Zones initiative and its campus team.
