Forensic Accounting student to be honored as Sumners Scholar
The Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship Program was established at Texas Wesleyan University in 1994. Over the years, Wesleyan students have been honored as Sumners Scholars.
Among the recipients for this upcoming year, sophomore Forensic Accounting major Stuart Tennyson said that he very excited to have won such a prestigious award.
"I was shocked," he said. "To go up against all those other people and win is amazing. If would not have told me about this opportunity, I would not have done something like this."
Stuart was one of 5 recipients out of a total 17 applicants.
The Hatton W. Sumners Scholars receive $3,500 per semester in conjunction with other institutional or organizational scholarships. The scholarship may be applied for a second school year (the senior year) provided the student meets the following criteria:
- Good standing with the University
- 3.0 grade point average or better
- Completion of at least 12 credit hours per semester (full-time status)
- Participation in a reasonable number of campus or civic activities for the benefit of Texas Wesleyan, the community and/or the Sumners Foundation
