The 2nd-annual leadership conference for State Registered Nurse Aides (SRNA) was held this month by U.S. Anesthesia Partners (USAP) at the Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas
Two 2nd-year students from TXWES were chosen to attend: Shilpa Mathew, who is completing her clinical residency in Longview, Texas, and Mark Esho, who is completing his residency in Arrowhead, California.
SRNAS from many different schools, USAP chief CRNAS from different states and recruiters attended the conference. The conference focused on practice management, including the difference between the 1099 and W2 jobs and how to prepare for the post-graduation interview. There were several activities on problem-solving and producing collective solutions. Chief CRNAs shared their tips for climbing the corporate ladder and the true meaning of leadership.
Ms. Mathew shared that “this conference gave us an excellent opportunity to de-stress and reset from clinical and gain positivity about the future of the profession. USAP made sure from the moment we landed for the conference everything was well coordinated (fantastic food, hotel, gift bags and much more). I appreciate USAP for this tremendous opportunity and hope more anesthesia groups will develop programs like this.”
