5 ways to thrive: tips for a successful spring semester
You made it. You’re here. And we couldn’t be happier. Classes have officially begun and it's time take advantage of the campus services created to help you succeed. To get you started, here are five tips to make this spring semester your best yet.
Get involved
The Office of Campus Life hosts a wide variety of activities designed for you to have fun, take a break from studying and meet fellow Rams – everything from live music to intramural sports and even the spring Homecoming celebration. Looking to be active with student organizations? Campus Life can help recommend one.
Sharpen your study skills
Good study habits will pay off now and during exam week. The Academic Success Center is a great resource for improving time management, test preparation and study techniques. You’ll also find tips for writing papers and taking notes. Stop by and meet the team in person. They are located on the first floor of the West Library.
Talk to your professors
Take advantage of smaller classes and make it a goal to get to know your professors. You might even be able to find them on Facebook. We're small by design and that's the way we like it. You’ll actually know each other's names and have the opportunity to engage with your professors and have thoughtful discussions. It will also help when you have questions about papers or projects.
Need Help? Just ask someone
Helping students succeed is kind of our job, and we’re pretty good at it. If you have questions about your financial aid, academic advising, getting a job or anything else, let us know. We’ll sit down with you and answer every question you have. And if you don’t know where to go or who to ask, start with your professor.
Plan ahead
It’s never too soon to be thinking about what you want to do this summer. Studying abroad? Scuba lessons? Grad school? The opportunities are limitless. Get ahead of the game and make it a priority to meet with someone who can help turn your plans into a reality.
