Faculty: Review the new attendance grading policy before midterm grades deadline

10.02.2015 | By:

The Department of Education requires the University to take attendance at the middle of the term for students who are not meeting attendace requirements. To streamline the process and make it easier for faculty, this new requirement is going to be incorporated into midterm grading.

You must submit these attendance grades. It is a federal requirement.

Midterm grades are to be entered as normal for freshman and students who are failing.

In addition, midterm grades are now required for students who are in violation of the attendance policy. To meet federal requirements, you must submit these grades instead of a letter grade.

"SO" should be entered for students who have stopped attending class. The last date of attendance must be entered.

"NA" should be entered for students who have never attended. Last date of attendance is not needed.

Midterm grades are due Tuesday, Oct. 13 at noon.

If you have any questions about these requirements or grading, please don’t hesitate to contact Twyla Gills by phone at 817-531-7596 or email at tgills@txwes.edu.
