Staffing Changes and New Faces in the Office of Student Records
On Sept. 11, Texas Wesleyan University welcomed Dr. Karen Jarrell as the University Registrar. Before joining the Office of Student Records, she served as the Assistant Dean for Academic and Financial Services and Law Registrar at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law. With more than 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Jarrell previously served as Assistant Provost, Assistant Vice President for Financial Aid, Assistant Clinical Professor and University Registrar at the University of Texas at Dallas. Karen also served as the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, Registrar and Student Information Systems Manager at Paul Quinn College for almost two years and was the Acting Registrar at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts where she worked for almost 10 years. Dr. Jarrell has extensive knowledge in all areas of enrollment management including admissions, registrar, financial aid and billing/bursar activities.
Dr. Jarrell holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Education from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She is both a published scholar and clinical assistant/adjunct professor in the fields of succession planning, city governance, organizational behavior, intergovernmental relations and human resources management. Dr. Jarrell is a proud member of Alpha Chi, Phi Lambda Theta and past president of Pi Alpha Alpha and a member of several professional organizations in enrollment management, human resources and public administration.
As the new University Registrar, Dr. Jarrell is focused on creating connections and removing barriers to opportunity and success for the campus community. She lives by the FISH!
