- Appoint LAN Senior Officer
- Appoint Steering Committee members
- Delegate authority as appropriate to staff and Steering Committee
- Designate Board member to liaise with Steering Committee onregular basis
- Approve annual plans and budgets
- Adopts policies
- Complies with state and federal regulation relative to LAN operations

Steering Committee
Summary of the Steering Committee's roles:
- Serve as forum for public comments
- Provide content expertise to guide implementation
- Report/recommend to TXWES staff and Board
- Reports as needed to FWISD
- Regularly monitor school performance
- Hear grievances that escalate, and make recommendations to the Dean on next steps
- Dean of School of Education serves as ex officio member
