Whitney Dennis Porter has joined the Office of Admissions at Texas Wesleyan University as the new director of graduate admissions. In this role, Whitney will oversee admissions for graduate programs in business, education, counseling and nursing.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Texas Wesleyan admissions team,” Whitney said. “I look forward to working with a team of admissions officers and faculty who value diversity and genuinely care about their students across a variety of programs.”

Whitney earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Master of Arts from Louisiana State University. After completing her master’s degree, she worked in undergraduate admissions and taught university-level English and communication courses. Prior to joining the Texas Wesleyan University team, she spent the past four years in medical school admissions as a recruiter and then as director of admissions. 

“I am excited to have Whitney join the admissions team! Her previous experience recruiting for a professional school is a perfect fit to helping us grow all of our graduate programs,” Djuana Young, associate vice president for enrollment, said. “I am looking forward to seeing Whitney get to know our faculty and help new graduate students enroll at Texas Wesleyan University.”

When she isn’t working, Whitney enjoys working out, practicing yoga, writing, practicing guitar, singing and visiting her family in Louisiana.
