- You may choose to seek additional certificates to increase your marketability in school districts and overseas.
- If your concentration area is in gifted and talented, you may complete the state exam to receive certification in this discipline.
- For a reading concentration, you can choose to take additional courses to be eligible for the state reading specialist certificate.
- In the second language education and culture concentration, you will be awarded the TESOL certificate, which you can use for teaching overseas.
Master Admissions Requirements
- 3.0 cumulative GPA or 3.0 in last 60 hours earned or a score of 900 or higher on Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- 90 hours of undergraduate work completed (You can start planning to pursue the 5-year option at any point, but you cannot formally apply until you’ve finished your junior year.)
- Two letters of recommendation from educators or employers, showing that the applicant is motivated to achieve, can contribute to the learning process, will bring real-life experience to the program and will enhance the overall experience of other graduate students
- Two additional letters of recommendation from Texas Wesleyan undergraduate education faculty members
- Professional resume or curriculum vita
- Interview with Graduate Admissions Faculty Committee
- Writing sample to demonstrate English proficiency, critical thinking and writing skills
