Talking to My Child About College

When freedom is just around the corner, helping your teenager decide where to spend the next four years of their life might seem like a challenge. You don’t want to be overbearing but you want to be involved.

Don’t worry – we’ve got a three-step solution for that.

Step 1: Talk About Majors

Find out what they’re interested in studying, and take a look at our majors and degrees together to see if our programs are the right fit.

They’re not going to be happy unless they’re studying something that interests them, and you want to make sure that they can turn that passion into a career.

Step 2: Schedule a Visit

You won’t know if your child will truly be happy here until they experience “Smaller. Smarter.” in person.

Make sure you visit when class is in session so you have a chance to talk with professors and students and get a realistic feel of what life at Wesleyan is like.

Step 3: Encourage Them to Apply

The application is easy to fill out and they won't even have to write an essay. The earlier they apply, the more scholarships are available to make Texas Wesleyan affordable for any budget.
