Did you know that many Texas Wesleyan alumni are published authors? We love to highlight the successes of our alums and are featuring several TXWES writers over the coming weeks.
Tamika Reynolds got both her undergraduate degree and MBA from Texas Wesleyan. She has spent the last seven years working at the university. Tamika is currently the Administrative Assistant to the dean of the School of Natural & Social Sciences. Her book, A Whirlwind of Life: Genres of Poetry, is a book that consists of poems on life, love, family and much more.
What inspired you to write your book?
I had been writing poetry since high school and always kept the poems in a binder. My son, Davion, motivated me to publish my works.
What do you enjoy most about writing?
What I enjoy most is being able to connect with others through my writing.
What was your biggest challenge about writing and getting published?
My biggest challenge was determining if I wanted to self-publish or use a publishing company. The cost was a major factor in my decision to self-publish. My other challenge was hoping my book would sell, and if so, would the readers enjoy it.
What are your future plans?
I am in the process of writing my second book, titled Luck in the Hearts.
If you or a fellow alumnus has a published work, contact the alumni office at alumni@txwes.edu to be considered for future feature stories.
