Michael Williams ’77, DO, MD, will receive the prestigious Alumnus of the Year award at the annual Alumni Medal Dinner set to take place on Friday, Oct. 13. Williams, a Fort Worth native, became the sixth president of UNTHSC in 2012 after a successful career in the medical field. He practiced anesthesiology and critical care medicine in Texas for over twenty years, then served as CEO of Hill Country Memorial Hospital during which time received numerous state and national awards. While at Hill Country Memorial, Governor Rick Perry appointed Williams to serve on the UNT System Board of Regents. In 2013, Williams was appointed to the Texas Wesleyan Board of Trustees and had worked to find collaborative opportunities between UNTHSC and Texas Wesleyan’s academic programs.
The Alumni Medal Dinner will be held at the Fort Worth Club on Friday, Oct. 13. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a program at 7 p.m.
