January Class Notes
Nancy (Bransom) Arnold ’69 received a 2015 Silver Will Rogers Medallion Award for her Illustrated-Young Readers book, Pioneer Pups, at the 2015 Will Rogers Medallion Awards Banquet. The award is given in honor of Will Rogers, and is presented to authors whose work exemplifies the cowboy heritage it was created to acknowledge. Arnold’s fictional tale is based upon the 1851 wagon train journey to Texas taken by her Bransom ancestors, who helped to found and settle Burleson, Texas.
Isaac Tate III ’93 received the Sewell Lexus and Infiniti of Fort Worth Chair for Teaching Excellence in Humanities Award at the Fort Worth ISD Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence Awards.
Isabel Lopez ’96 received the Angela D. Paulos for Teaching Excellence in Visual Arts Award at the Fort Worth ISD Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence Awards.
Cindy Burlin ’02 received the Bayard H. Friedman Chair for Teaching Excellence in Performing Arts Award at the Fort Worth ISD Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence Awards.
Josh Gibbs ’03 and wife Kimbra welcomed Eleanor Monroe Gibbs (pictured below) on December 16. She was 21 ¾ inches long and weighed 10 lbs 4oz.
Christina Armenta ’07 received the Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in Elementary Science Award at the Fort Worth ISD Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence Awards.
Graham’s Grail, a play written by John Humphrey ’14, was given honorable mention in Stage West’s new playwriting competition.
Monica Maldonado ’14 was named “VIP Teacher” of the month at Hommel Elementary School in Everman ISD.
