The Texas Wesleyan Alumni Board is a select group of alumni who support the university’s initiatives, current students and alumni through leadership and volunteerism. The Alumni Board includes a diverse membership, designed to truly represent all TXWES alumni. Check out one of our young alumni board members and why Texas Wesleyan continues to play a role in his life after graduation.
Julian Hobdy graduated from Texas Wesleyan in 2018 with a degree in Religion and a minor in Philosophy. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from SMU Perkins School of Theology. He serves as an associate pastor at a local church in Mansfield, and still has time to give his time and talents to the alumni board at TXWES. Here’s what he had to say about his Texas Wesleyan experience:
Why did you choose Texas Wesleyan?
I wanted an education that allowed for a diversity of thought, and I got so much more. I received a hands-on experience that not only allowed me a well-rounded education but an opportunity to develop lasting personal and professional relationships.
What is your favorite Texas Wesleyan memory?
Being robed by not only a professor but a mentor who encouraged me to present a paper to a regional conference for the American Academy of Religion. I got a chance to do something I didn't think I had the capacity to do, and now the sky is the limit.
How did TXWES contribute to your success and/or preparedness for your career?
TXWES gave me the confidence to pursue continued education and a career path that was frankly overwhelming for me. Everyone needs someone to believe in them, and I got that in a significant way from the faculty and staff at TXWES!
What’s an interesting fact about you that people may not know?
I've been a professional dancer, and I'm a published musician!
